You then flip a card each turn and place either a worker on a marked location, Nightweave into the meadow based on a number decided by a dice roll or apply the cards listed effect. Beyond Nightweave, Mistwood also includes additional farm cards that afford players different types of farms that have different green powers. Because Nightweave plays by many of the same rules that apply to the solo player, the game ends up feeling less like a solitaire bot experience and more like playing Everdell against a really cutthroat human opponent.

Plus, there are different personalities and other modules that allow for variety to this experience. The thing that genuinely fascinates me, and I cannot stress this enough, is how much of an interactive solo experience Mistwood provides.Part of why you want bots in a game is because you don’t have enough human players to make it fully enjoyable. The new player powers are similar in strength to the other various player powers included in the other expansions. Pit your wits against Nightweaves in solo or two-player games, and recruit heroes of yore like Corrin Evertail himself. The modules that can be used multiplayer don’t really change the feel or strategies of the game much at all. Although you can play Mistwood using “only” the core Nightweave rules, the inclusion of both the Plans and Plots modules elevate this solo experience even further both in terms of strategical considerations and also variety.

In my review, I concluded that although the included solo mode was perfectly serviceable from a mechanical perspective I was still hesitant to recommend the game exclusively for solitaire play. The one exception and this should give you an indication as to the rather cruel nature of this arachnid foe, is the Fool card which Nightweave will happily deploy onto your city earning you a minus two points penalty in the process. Suitable for holding your squishy berries, sturdy twigs, sparkling resin, smooth pebbles, impressive pearls, shiny coin tokens, welcoming occupied tokens, and special event cards. They perform functions like preventing the same ad from continuously reappearing, ensuring that ads are properly displayed for advertisers, and in some cases selecting advertisements that are based on your interests. Join the community and come discuss games like Codenames, Wingspan, Brass, and all your other favorite games! They can also visit your open locations in your tableau, so you are more incentivised to use these earlier in a round than later to stop Nightweave blocking them. This comes through in the solo game, I would say particularly well when using the plans and plots especially with the foil meaning you are outsmarting Nightweave. Nightweave finishes the same way in the autumn but at this point will have 8 workers so will probably finish later than you.

The various modules added to the multiplayer game don’t increase the games weight unlike some of the other modules found in the various expansions. The front of the box shows an army of woodland creatures ready to fight an army of spiders that have infested the Evertree (Figure 1). Incom Gaming is the trading name of Incom Gaming Ltd which is registered in England (Company Number: 09883194) and whose registered office is at 2PIGS, church Street, Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, GL50 3HA. Nightweave does have a lot more workers than normal players so that is something to keep in mind and they are more likely to block you out of worker locations during the mid to late game. At the end of the game any achievement cards that were collected (by modules) will be played into their city along with seeing if any one remaining basic event can be achieved and added to their victory point pile.Much like how you as the solo player goes about adding cards and expanding your city, so too does Nightweave.

Similarly, there’s the Corrin Evertail module that chronicles the life and adventures of the legendary founder of Everdell through a series of interlocking critters and location cards! Unlike the previous expansions Pearlbrookand Spirecrest, there’s but one edition of Mistwood to be had. You can change your choices at any time by visiting Cookie preferences, as described in the Cookie notice.Tie breakers are necessary sometimes which can increase the time spent on their turn but it is still manageable and doesn’t detract from the overall game experience. There are 3 possible modules that you can add to Nightweave to change up the gameplay, personalities, plans and plots.
