The concept is that the players play elements of the RAF and Luftwaffe from Dunkirk through the Blitz. These factors simply don’t apply to the same degree in the air where pilots operate individually and you can’t just rush up a reserve to plug a gap in the line. The Undaunted series continues to tackle important arenas of combat through the continued scope of the second world war.

Undaunted Battle of Britain

Command the pilots of the battle-tested Luftwaffe who are looking to extinguish all resistance and pave the way to invasion, or the resourceful and determined RAF opposing them at every turn. The only fly in the ointment is the section on flanking, which seems to have a pretty serious misprint. Trevor and I needed to complete the core gameplay concepts by June 2021, complete 80% of the design by December 2021, and hand over everything by March 2022.In some, the RAF’s planes are still on the runways, and can be bombed to bits before they get into the air, while in others the Luftwaffe just wants to get their bombers off to safety. Trevor and I met with Osprey Games in early September to walk them through the design, including providing an overview of the scenarios and all the critical gameplay elements we added. Maintain cohesion between your pilots, evade anti-aircraft artillery, and leverage talented aces to win the battle for the skies! This is the next expansion for the award-winning Undaunted deck-builder set during the battles of World War II. They are double-sided with coastal scenes, countryside, harbours and airfields on one side and all sea on the other.

Certain aircraft sets have a comms card that allows them to bolster from the supply, inspire their pilots to take another action, or even remove discord (known as fog of war in previous installments) from the deck. We'll be having a deep dive into the contents of the box to show off all the components for this new World War 2 campaign board game. The trouble is that when it comes to deckbuilding, there simply isn’t the same card variety in Undaunted: Battle of Britain as there is in the previous games in the series. The restriction here is that to take advantage of these comms, the pair of aircraft must be separated by no more than one hex. In May, just a couple months after starting our work on Battle of Britain, Trevor and I reached out to Filip and Anthony Howgego at Osprey and let them know we were ready to show them the first prototype of the game.These are the ones used to add cards (lives/actions) from your supply to your deck, but they can also be used to draw more cards in a turn, or reuse a card you just spent, giving a plane a sudden burst of speed, and usually enabling an extra attack. We talk with both of them in this Undaunted interview to find out what it was like bringing this new Undaunted experience to life for Osprey Games' newest game in the series.
