I wasn’t even that annoyed that Perrin, one of my favorite characters, didn’t show up because I know Jordan would have found a way to make his sections tedious. They were about to be punished by the townspeople when Gareth Bryne, lord of the land and former right hand of Queen Morgase, happened by on his way to his estate.

Fires of Heaven features one of the worst sex scenes I have read — not because Jordan doesn't commit to eroticism but because I honest-to-God can't imagine women and men actually wanting to have sex with each other in this story. Nynaeve witnesses Alliandre—the latest and longest-lived of many recent Ghealdanin monarchs—paying Masema tribute. My thoughts on the show have changed a lot since then but the bottom line is essentially the same: the show is really the only way I'll experience Wheel of Time in any capacity at this point. Betrayed by his allies, pursued by his enemies and beset by the madness that comes to the male wielders of the One Power, Rand rides out to meet the foe.

We explore the past and future of Siuan Sanche and her companions as she tries to gather forces to retake. Nynaeve, afraid that Rand will kill Moghedien if he learns her identity, banishes the connecting part of the a’dam but retains the rest.

There is a moment where he glances at a map and instantly comes up with pretty much the same battle plan that Lan and another general had already worked out and which all leads into what is generally a fun storyline of Mat becoming one of the Great Generals of the era. Considering the Power, are the men’s views of all women based on the ability of the few who can channel? When we first see Elayne and her crew, they are slowly travelling from Tanchico to Tar Valon to deliver the cuendillars they found.Mat lets slip Rand’s plans in front of Melindhra, who tries to kill him with a dagger marked with Sammael’s sigil. Normally, this would just make me kind of sad but it's enraging and annoying in just how stupidly frequent it is. He seems to have placed her under some sort of compulsion, turning her into his puppet and taking complete control of her throne: He has replaced the men in Morgase’s army with his own and has used Morgase to rid Camelyn of anyone loyal to her. Rand al' Thor, the Dragon Reborn, knows that he must strike at the Enemy, but his forces are divided by treachery and by ambition.
