Its rich concentration of ripe fruit is balanced by the added complexity of spices, all held together by superb structure and balance.Knowing that it’s created by steam distilling thousands of hand-picked rose petals sourced from the East, made it seem a very luxurious treat indeed.

Although it's a heavy floral flavour it also has depth, I don't usually like sweet drinks and tend to go for an old fashioned or a negroni, but Lanique and tonic is now my new go to! The Attar of Rose is then added in a slow, multi-part process with carefully selected sugars and a neutral grain spirit. I love it with tonic and a wedge of lime, but have also tried mixed with prosecco which is also lovely.

I had a little play with the Lanique and created a couple of cocktails, which I thought worked really nicely. Lanique is created by steam-distilling thousands of hand-picked rose petals that are sourced from the East.It can be enjoyed on its own, mixed with Champagne or sparkling wine, or used as an ingredient in romantic cocktails. Neat over ice with a squeeze of lime, or as a Laniquetini with gin, good mixers are tonic with cucumber, tonic with lime, or Fentimans jasmine. They make this to a recipe that's over 200 years old dating back to the 1700s, at a time when rose-flavoured spirits were enjoyed by royalty all over Europe.
