The chemistry between the characters is palpable, adding depth to the story and making it a joy for longtime fans like myself and newcomers to the Spider-Man mythos. Maisel, The Boys, The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, The Summer I Turned Pretty and many, many more. The screenplay deftly weaves together humour, heart, and high-stakes action, ensuring that the audience remains engaged from start to finish.

This movie, as of 2023, is hands down the best movie to showcase how good physical media/blu-ray is IMO.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Versetakes place a year after its predecessor, with the story focusing on Miles Morales (Shameik Moore) and his journey across the multiverse after reuniting with Gwen Stacy (Hailee Steinfeld).

Admittedly, Miles Morales was introduced into the comics around the time I stopped avidly reading the Big Two, so I’m only vaguely familiar with his character; and if anything…. In that way, Across the Spider-Verse is a film that is already front-loaded with the need to rewatch it, if only to fully appreciate the feat in visuals and design that it is. With her enhanced strength, speed, agility, and spider-sense, she is a confident superhero who is able to understand what Miles is going through.Admittedly, I’m not a huge fan of seeing Miguel O’Hara portrayed as a villain, but there are plenty of knowing winks to Spider-fans, and it seems as if even if Sony don’t know how to handle a “real life” Spider-man/verse, the team behind these animated films absolutely do. The kaleidoscope of colours and the fluidity of movement create a visual feast that is nothing short of breathtaking. After reuniting with Gwen Stacy, Brooklyn’s full-time, friendly neighborhood Spider-Man is catapulted across the Multiverse, where he encounters a team of Spider-People charged with protecting its very existence. Good animation film and a good follow on from the first however it is over long at 2 hours and 20 minutes and it is the first part of something, guess we will have to wait another four years to find out.
